Frequently Asked Questions
Everything FFL dealers need to know about FFL-BRO software, ATF compliance, and running a successful firearms business.
????️ Software & Platform
What is FFL-BRO and who is it for?
FFL-BRO is a complete ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) suite designed specifically for Federal Firearms Licensees. Whether you’re a kitchen-table dealer doing transfers, a gun show vendor, or a multi-location retail operation, FFL-BRO provides one integrated platform for your website, POS, inventory, Form 4473, bound book, and distributor integrations. Built by dealers, for dealers.
How is FFL-BRO different from FastBound, Orchid, or FFL Boss?
Most FFL software charges separately for each feature: $30-75/mo for bound book, $30-50/mo for e-commerce, $50-100/mo per distributor integration. FFL-BRO includes everything in one monthly price: professional website, all major distributor integrations, digital Form 4473, electronic bound book, POS system, CRM, and marketing tools. One login, one price — typically 80% less than piecing together multiple subscriptions.
What distributors does FFL-BRO integrate with?
FFL-BRO provides real-time inventory synchronization with six major firearms distributors:
Automatic best-price detection across all catalogs helps you find the best margins instantly.
Can I run FFL-BRO at gun shows without internet?
Yes! Gun Show BRO is specifically designed for offline capability. Handle sales, capture leads, manage consignments, and track P&L without internet. Data syncs automatically when you’re back online. The mobile PWA works on any tablet or smartphone.
Do I need technical skills to use FFL-BRO?
No. FFL-BRO is designed for dealers, not IT professionals. Your turnkey website is fully designed, hosted, and maintained. The dashboard is intuitive — if you can use a smartphone, you can use FFL-BRO. We handle all the technical complexity so you can focus on selling guns.
???? ATF Compliance & Regulations
Is FFL-BRO’s electronic bound book ATF compliant?
Yes. FFL-BRO’s electronic A&D (Acquisition & Disposition) book is fully compliant with ATF Ruling 2016-1. Key compliance features include:
- Immutable audit trail for all changes
- Automatic daily cloud backups with local download option
- Searchable by serial number, date, manufacturer, purchaser name, address, and 4473 serial number
- Read-only ATF audit mode
- Proper time-stamping of all entries
Is the digital Form 4473 compliant with ATF Ruling 2016-2?
Yes. FFL-BRO’s electronic 4473 meets all requirements of ATF Ruling 2016-2 and ATF Ruling 2022-1:
- Current 2025 form version always used
- All definitions and instructions exactly match the paper form
- Digital signature support with timestamp
- Customer can amend answers before certifying
- Secure digital storage with read-only ATF access mode
- Spanish language support available
What are the most common ATF violations FFL-BRO helps prevent?
According to the ATF, the top violations during compliance inspections are:
- Failure to obtain complete and correct ATF Form 4473
- Failure to record complete A&D information
- Failure to conduct NICS background check before transfer
- Failure to report multiple handgun sales
- Failure to report lost or stolen firearms
FFL-BRO’s built-in validation, auto-population, and compliance alerts help you avoid these costly mistakes. Our system won’t let you complete a transfer without proper documentation.
How long must I keep my records?
ATF requires:
- Form 4473: 20 years minimum (or surrender to ATF if going out of business)
- A&D Records: Acquisition records must be kept permanently; disposition records for 20 years
- Multiple Sale Reports: 5 years
FFL-BRO stores all records digitally with automatic backups, so you never have to worry about lost paperwork, fire, flood, or illegible handwriting.
What happens during an ATF compliance inspection?
An Industry Operations Investigator (IOI) will:
- Arrive unannounced during business hours
- Present ATF credentials and explain the inspection
- Review your A&D records and Form 4473s
- Conduct a “book-to-physical” inventory reconciliation
- Review any violations and provide a report
FFL-BRO’s ATF Audit Mode provides read-only access to exactly what the inspector needs — nothing more, nothing less. Clean, searchable records mean faster inspections with fewer headaches.
