Fingerprint intake, quality gating, and EFT packet assembly built into the platform your bound book already lives in
What every panel means, how the quality gate works, and how to record this for the ad
This is a self-contained demo of the NFA-BRO Live Scan capture station. Nothing is fetched from a server, no hardware is attached, and no real biometric data exists anywhere in this file. Every fingerprint on screen is generated procedurally in your browser from a mathematical ridge-flow model — loops, whorls and arches drawn from a seeded orientation field, with minutiae placed on the resulting ridge structure. That means the prints are unique, animate smoothly, and carry zero privacy or licensing baggage.
| Beat | What happens on screen |
|---|---|
| Prompt | Targeting brackets brighten and the platen asks for a specific finger. The CAP LED is dark. |
| Contact | A contact ripple fires from the centre of the platen, the CAP LED goes orange, and the device chip switches to Capturing. |
| Scan | A sweep bar crosses the platen. Ridge detail resolves behind the bar — the hot band just above the sweep is where the sensor is currently reading. Ridge count and capture area climb live. |
| Analyse | Minutiae markers pop in one at a time on ridge endings and bifurcations, each with its orientation tick. The NFIQ ring fills. |
| Verdict | ACCEPTED if NFIQ ≥ 80, RECAPTURE if not. The impression drops into the tenprint grid tinted by its verdict. |
The right ring finger is scripted to fail on its first attempt — dry ridge detail, NFIQ 71. That beat is deliberate: the reject-and-recapture pair is the most persuasive seven seconds in the whole demo, because it shows the failure being caught at your counter in four seconds instead of by the ATF eight weeks later.
| Panel | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| NFIQ ring | NIST Fingerprint Image Quality, normalised to 0–100. Hard pass gate at 80. Ring colour tracks the verdict: orange while reading, green on pass, amber on fail. |
| Ridge count | Friction ridges crossing the core-to-delta axis. Proves real ridge detail is being read rather than a smudge. |
| Minutiae | Ridge endings and bifurcations — the features an examiner matches on. Under roughly 28 usable points the impression reads as thin. |
| Capture area | Share of the platen covered by usable ridge detail. Low area normally means the finger lifted early. |
| Event log | The audit trail as it is written. Every line shown here is a row that would land in the packet's immutable timeline. |
| Packet completeness | ID, photo, tenprint, CLEO notice, signatures, EFT build. The EFT row only closes when all ten impressions have cleared the gate. |
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Space | Play / pause. Pause on any frame to grab a still. |
| R | Restart the tenprint session from the first thumb. |
| C | Cinematic mode — hides all chrome and adds a vignette for a clean recording plate. |
| F | Open the Features catalogue. |
| H | Open this guide. |
| 1 2 3 | Playback speed: 0.5× / 1× / 2×. |
| Esc | Close any open panel, or leave cinematic mode. |
Hover any label, tile, stage or control on the page for a tooltip that explains what it is and why it matters — the tooltips are written as talking points, so they double as voiceover source material.
Full sequence runs 44 seconds at 1× (22 seconds at 2×) and then loops cleanly, so you can let it run and pick your take. Record in cinematic mode at 1920×1080, browser zoom 100%. Each finger occupies exactly 3.4 seconds, which makes the timecodes below repeatable take after take.
| Timecode | Shot | Direction |
|---|---|---|
| 00:00–00:03 | Cold open | Right thumb. Brackets pulse, contact ripple, sweep bar resolves the ridges, ACCEPTED. The sweep is the hero moment — push in on the platen and hold it. |
| 00:03–00:10 | Rhythm | Right index and middle. Go wide so the audience sees prints dropping into the tenprint grid and the telemetry ticking. |
| 00:10–00:14 | The failure | Right ring finger. NFIQ climbs and stalls at 71, amber RECAPTURE stamp, grid cell turns amber. Drop to 0.5× here — this is the sales beat. |
| 00:14–00:17 | The save | Immediate re-prompt, clean capture, 93, green stamp. Cut on the grid cell flipping from amber to green. |
| 00:17–00:37 | Momentum | Remaining six fingers. Good bed for voiceover — run at 2× under narration if you need to compress. |
| 00:37–00:41 | EFT build | Platen dims to the record writer, progress bar fills, packet completeness reaches 100%. |
| 00:41–00:44 | Payoff | Pull out to the packet card as EFT READY · NFA-2026-0148 locks in green. End card. |
This is a visual prototype, not a shipped capture driver. The scanner adapter layer, FAP60 SDK integration, and ANSI/NIST-ITL EFT writer are roadmap items — the demo shows the intended operator experience. If the ad implies live hardware, add an on-screen "Product demonstration — simulated capture" caption. Any claim about ATF processing times should be sourced to atf.gov/resource-center/current-processing-times on the day the ad is cut.
