Announcing FFL-BRO Bound Book Free: A Real Electronic A&D Book, Free Forever

Every FFL dealer has the same three-ring binder. Coffee-stained pages, serial numbers squeezed into margins, and that quiet dread before an ATF compliance inspection: is every disposition in there?

Today we’re releasing FFL-BRO Bound Book Free — a complete electronic Acquisition & Disposition record that runs inside WordPress. It’s free. Not free-for-30-days, not free-for-50-entries. Free.

What you get

The full 27 CFR 478.125(e) record. Manufacturer and importer, model, serial number, type, caliber or gauge, acquisition date and source, disposition date and transferee — by name and address, FFL number, or 4473 transaction serial. The screen looks like the ruled ledger your IOI already knows, because familiarity matters at inspection time.

A book that can’t be quietly altered. ATF Ruling 2016-1 requires electronic bound books to prevent silent changes. Bound Book Free doesn’t have a delete button — corrections preserve the complete before-and-after in an immutable audit log with user, timestamp and IP address. Every acquisition, disposition, correction, export and backup is logged.

Daily backups you don’t have to remember. The same ruling requires daily backup of electronic records. The plugin does it automatically: an ATF-format CSV snapshot every day, into a web-protected folder on your own server, with the 30 newest retained and every run logged.

Hard copy on demand. Inspectors can ask for paper. Click Print Book and the ledger comes out with your licensee name, FFL number and premises address in the header.

An offline safety net. Download the backup viewer once — a single HTML file that opens any of your CSV exports in any browser, with search, filters and printing. Server down, host trouble, laptop in the truck: your book is still readable.

Your data stays home. Everything lives in your own WordPress database at your licensed premises. The plugin makes zero external network calls. We literally cannot see your book.

The honest part

Bound Book Free is the free tier of the FFL-BRO platform. In your admin menu you’ll see the rest of the platform — Form 4473/NICS workflow, the Distributor Hub (Lipsey’s, RSR, Davidson’s, Zanders, Orion, MGE), 2A-friendly e-commerce, orders with a 50-state compliance engine, CRM, transfers, digital signatures — grayed out with a lock. Click any of them and you’ll get a plain-English summary of what it does for you and what it costs (plans from $79/month).

That’s the whole funnel. No nag screens, no crippled features, no surprise paywall on your own records. If you never upgrade, you still have a compliant, unlimited bound book. If you do upgrade, your data carries over automatically.
